The Survival Medicine Handbook: the Essential Guide for When Help Is NOT on the Way

Black & White Version. If a disaster took away the high-technology we take for granted, would you be prepared to keep you family healthy? Could you be an effective medic when hospitals are overcrowded and the ambulance is heading in the other direction?

Can you take over if you were the highest medical asset left? Medical preparedness advocates Joe Alton, MD and Amy Alton, NP’s award-winning “Survival Medicine Handbook: A guide for when help is NOT on the way” is now out in its greatly expanded and revised 4th edition!

Previous editions have been 1st place winners in the Book Excellence Awards in Medicine, and this one has many more topics and almost triple the illustrations to give you the info needed to keep it together, even when everything else falls apart.

Called “America’s favorite survival medic” by American Outdoor Guide, NY Times/Amazon bestselling author Dr. Joe Alton and Nurse Practitioner Amy Alton have put together a 700 page book that encompasses trauma care, first aid, chronic care, medical procedures, and much more. It’ll be an essential reference for anyone concerned about the uncertain future.

The Survival Medicine Handbook is written in plain English that anyone can understand, but it’s not just another medical first aid book. It’s unique in that it assumes that a disaster, natural or man-made, has removed all access to hospitals or doctors for the foreseeable future; you, the average person, are now the highest medical resource left to your family. The book’s goal is to make you effective in that role.

With over 300 topics and 300 illustrations, the 4th edition of the Survival Medicine Handbook covers just about every situation the family medic will encounter in times of trouble.

★★★★★

This is a practical book for situations where modern medical help is not available. Most places in the world would benefit from this book. If society as we know it ever failed this book could save your life and your family. First aid training is a must but this book is critical knowledge.

Excellent book! Happy I picked it up! Very valuable information and most importantly interesting! Not finished it yet! Very large in size but that's even better for the price! Thanks!

Do yourself, your family, your friends and others a favor and purchase this book but most importantly read it and be prepared long before a SHTF event occurs. Medical preparedness is not just about preparing for disasters, it is something we should all be better prepared for in our daily modern lives. It doesn't take much time to go from first world to third world and preventing outbreaks and the spread of diseases can be prevented with knowledge and specific actions. What I like about the book is that it isn't just a medical reference book, instead it looks at the bigger picture (possible scenarios) and comes at things from different angles/perspectives including how to use both modern and natural medicines and what might some possible alternatives such as how to possibly prolong a diabetics chance of survival. Lots of things are covered and it's fairly well written so that almost anyone can understand what they should do if certain things were to happen.

Fascinating book. I read it cover to cover and am working on collecting the recommended reference books and have been watching the YouTube recommended videos. Really will help you in your preparations for hurricanes (remember Katrina) and other disasters that may cause a break down of society. The Survival Medicine Handbook goes into detail about medical preparations where most "Preppers" books devote only a page or at most a chapter on the subject. This book is a great resource and should be on everyone's library shelf and I do mean the physical book. If there is a breakdown of society and you have no power, how would you refer to it on your Kindle? Using your Kindle would be fine until it needed to be charged but you get my meaning. I got the Kindle version too though. It's very well written and easy to understand. If I could choose only one medical prep book it would be this one.
