I just used this camping over the 4th of July holiday weekend. It worked awesomely. I had no cell coverage where I was camping and there was some bad weather, so I was glad to have the radio. I wasn't able to try the solar charger because it literally rained the whole time, but the crank worked. It picked up FM really well, and also was able to get the weather station briefly. I'm not entirely sure why I couldn't get the weather station the whole time, but like I said - I couldn't even get cell service so I think my location was preventing the weather channel reception. The sound on this radio is loud enough to hear, but doesn't seem to broadcast in all directions...

I did a ton of research on the right emergency radio for my ultimate bug out/camping bag. This one hands down is the best on the market and that's why it's a little pricier than others. Surprisingly great sound quality too for how little and packable it is. Bluetooth was a huge plus bc now I don't need to pack my waterproof bluetooth speaker anymore. Has it all! I do wish it had a locked off setting, I've turned it on by accident a couple times but that's just me. Big battery life, so many charging options and charges the quickest campared to all other similar products. Feels durable and is even splash proof. Just fyi these aren't meant to charge your phone! It's for emergencies, so it will give you a few minutes of charge to make an emergency call.

After going over one mayor blackout we were in the need of a reliable radio to be connect over what was going on, and not worrying on batteries. We found the Eton FRX5-BT and it proved to be a game changer on a second mayor blackout that we had recently. The battery is very durable, and you can use the radio while charging. The lamp mode is very bright and the flashlight is also bright, also the lamps/flashlight have a see in the dark border that can help you locate the unit on the dark. Another very good functionality is that the unit can be used as a battery bank to charge your phone or other usb device. Also on not so sunny days you can use the hand cranck to charge the unit and keep using it. Overall this is a really good asset to have over an emergency!

This was my Christmas gift to myself and other members of my family. Everyone was absolutely delighted to have it -- the sister and brother-in-law who live in hurricane alley, my niece who lives with her family in the woods on the way to Tahoe and me who survived the NorthBay fires. This item is everything it was advertised to be. I particularly liked the bright, but not glaring, camp light and the separate spot light. USB charging was of the unit is very good although I haven't tried solar charging yet. Great convenience being able to charge my cell phone with it as well. Radio is easy to dial in and the single speaker has good full sound. I've already dropped it twice (once on concrete) but housing did not crack. I also like the light weight so it doesn't add much to the overall weight in my pack. Only thing that prevented me giving 5 stars is that the printing on the push buttons on top is very small and hard to read.
